Name DeCota A. Jaymes
A little about myself:
I went to school for accounting, decided I didn’t like it so I switched to psychology. My family suffered so I put it on hold. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 8 years. I have a wonderful husband who is my number 1 fan and 4 amazing kids.
When and why did you begin writing?
I started 3 years ago. I realized I could read more books in a week than I could afford….lol. writing them is an adventure. I don’t outline beforehand so I never know where the story will take me.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Lol when my bff read my first book The Power of Three (unedited and extremely rough). She wasn’t a reader before she ready book.
What inspired you to write your first book?
I was bored one day and just started writing and here I am.
Do you have a specific writing style?
I’m a 1st person writer. Menage is where I am good at so I stick with it.
How did you come up with the title?
Some I have before I have the story. Others don’t show up until I’m a few chapters in. A scene may have an extra meaningful part where the title ties into the story.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
Survival. Emotional abuse, verbal and physical. Seeing they aren’t the only ones going through it is what I hope for. Something relatable to real life.
How much of the book is realistic?
I add my own experiences in them at times.
Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Little of both. My past was rough so I take mainly mine. It’s my own type of therapy.
What books have most influenced your life most? a mentor?
There are too many to say. As for mentors, I just have a strong love of all authors. They put themselves out there for all the world to applaud or criticize. I’ve always stayed in my shell, they all helped me come out.
